SMR hydrogen plants produce as a byproduct roughly 0.5 gigatons of CO per year, about 9 tons of CO₂ for every ton of hydrogen produced. By rearranging the steam methane reforming process, ZFRT’s patent-pending ZH₂ Process Technology™ makes all of that CO₂ available for efficient pre-combustion capture. Effective capture levels of 95% to 97% can be achieved, at a cost lower than any alternative that even approaches this capture level. Features of the ZH₂ Process Technology add additional value upstream of methanol and ammonia production units.
